Game fails to launch if installed on a Storage Spaces drive [edit]

The game will fail to launch if installed on a Storage Spaces drive. This will either cause the ACOrigins.exe process to get stuck on the splash screen or in the background.

Storage Spaces is Microsoft's new software-based RAID solution for Windows 10, allowing users to create and make use of virtual disk drive(s) that spans across multiple physical drives in a desired RAID configuration.

Move the installation folder to a regular non-Storage Spaces drive^[3]
Copy the <path-to-game> folder over to a new appropriate location on a non-Storage Spaces drive. When the game folder have been copied over completely, open Uplay and select the game. Click on Properties and then on Uninstall to remove the existing game install folder. After the uninstall have been completed, click on Locate installed game below the Download button. Browse to and select the new <path-to-game> folder, then click on OK. The game will be playable again after Uplay have verified that all game files are present.

High CPU usage and stuttering on 2/4t [edit]

Option can be found in game settings. Sometimes also helps (when both clients are running) going into offline mode on Steam and Uplay, then launching the game.

Disable "Control Flow Guard" in Windows Defender^[4]
Use this instruction and choose executable. Don't turn off CFG globally - it's a major security breach. If you use another AV software, then you would naturally assume everything Defender related is disabled, and you would be wrong. If you use Defender, you will be brought to the Windows Defender Security Center straight away, but if you don't, you will end up on a Settings page saying that Windows Defender is not available because it's turned off. Click "Turn on Windows Defender Antivirus" - don't worry, your AV software will disable it again straight away.

May lower stuttering and FPS issues on configurations with low RAM and weak CPU.^[5] Restart needed after changes. Your system will be vulnerable for Spectre and Meltdown.

The game freezes randomly for a few seconds until resuming on NVIDIA GeForce cards

This is a Nvidia Driver bug in driver versions 451.48 and 451.67 that was fixed in version 452.06.^[7]
Upgrade to Nvidia driver version 452.06 or later.

Graphics quality decrease since 1.04/1.05 patch [edit]

Poor performance on AMD FX CPUs [edit]

Disable the Cool and Quiet feature in BIOS settings and set the Power Plan to High Performance ^{[citation needed]}
Players who are using AMD FX Series processors may experience FPS drops and freezes, especially with the FX-8350 model. Please note that a good cooling solution is also recommended in order to avoid overheating issues, should you implement this workaround.

Stuttering on high end configurations with 60 FPS and more [edit]

Both of these will either cause massive performance hits, FPS drops, or stuttering. If you've done both of the above and still have 5-7 FPS make sure to disable these overlays (in this order, depending on what you have installed): RivaTuner Statistics Server (makes FPS go down to 5-7) Discord overlay (may crash the game on certain hardware) Twitch overlay (same as Discord) UPlay overlay (stupid I know... but it crashes or causes performance hits in some of Ubisoft's own games...) Steam overlay (if disabling all of the above doesn't work) If you still need a boost in performance, set process priority to High in the task manager.

Despite the official system requirements stating a CPU with support for SSE4.1 instructions being required, in reality the game requires support for POPCNT and SSE4.2 instructions.^[10] Fixes exist.
